C100: Shooting with C-log

I´m new proud owner of c100 (coming from dslr) It´s a very good camera, and easy to use. Coming from dslr ;)

I´m shooting c-log. I´m new to waveform, normally i expose by eye. When I look at the wave form I see a lot of space in the shadows and highlights.

My question is. Anyone know what is the best way to expose for c-log? Links to videos/articles?

Any info appreciated

Regards,
Benjamin

There are a couple threads around here detailing C-log, but the long and short of it is that Canon rates middle grey at around 32 IRE on the wave form. It's tough to go by eye when shooting C-log because it's so flat and there's a lot of dynamic range, but my general rule is to keep highlights at 40-50 IRE depending on how harsh they are and it works out well grading in post.

It´s exactly a overall rule like this I was looking for!
I will try to shoot some with this in mind and try to grade it.

Also, look for the 'View Assist' mode in the LCD menu. It tweaks the LCD display to a more 'normal' appearance by artificially brightening it. Note V. Assist mode only affects the LCD panel, not the output or the recorded image.

I've sort of bolted them together, so when I switch to C-Log, V.Assist is automatically switched on.

I don't use C-Log all the time - I only use it in challenging (high dynamic range) shots. Most of the time, I'm using a version of Wide Dynamic Range with the detail turned down to -10 (so I can sharpen in post, just like C-Log). If you have large gaps of unused IRE range, it's a sign that you may be better served with WDR.

Going with what MattDavis said big props from people here on the WDR settings. Take a peak around as there are some modifications in settings
a few of the experienced guys have been using
