I've had the camera (130) for 1.5 weeks. i feel pretty comfortable -- the book that came with is good. I'm going to be shooting a sports video (am football) teaching different drills (outdoors). I've been trying to get comfortable using the buttons and getting used to the lens. I might have to use auto focus a couple of times. I used to shoot SD only so i'm new to HD. Any tips on shooting sports? Using a tripod mostly - - handheld on this thing can get shaky. I'm thinking about shooting 720/60p because 50% of our clients are DVD and the rest web.

A few tips from my time spent shooting club soccrer games for my daughter's team:
Just practice shooting anything you can in the next two days. Get used to the look of the Focus Assist, and know when you are really in focus. Practice using the camera in Manual Focus mode. Use that Focus Assist on your shoot. Turn on EVF detail and leave it on. Got a good 7" monitor to verify focus? They are quite handy to have in sports work, get one, and a good shade for it. And get a rock-solid mount for the monitor! You do not need to have it swinging and flapping around when you are trying to shoot.
Bring along a good monopod too, they can be invaluable. I'd recommend one like the Bogen 571, I think it is....
What are your requirements / goals for audio? Rent a good mic and headphones, if you do not already have them. Or maybe you will be better served using a voice-over after the fact. Whatever it is, plan that out as much in advance as possible.
I think the cam itself is very adaptable, to succeed you will need a modicum of good supporting gear. Best of luck to you!

Thanks. I was wondering if most people leave on the EVF detail. It can slow me down turning it off and all all the time.

I shoot hs football and lacrosse. I don't know what kind of tripod you have, but a good head and set of legs are invaluable. Fortunately at the HS level there isn't a big demand for pro cameras, so I have got away with using the high-end prosumer, though I will be purchasing AC1x0A soon if all goes as planned. I agree, a 7" monitor is going to be beneficial in judging focus. The key is to make your gig as easy on you as possible. For support, I use a 11" articulating arm on a 15mm rail base.
