GH2 Shooting sports/fast motion on GH2

If you weren't interested in doing slow-mo, is it better to shoot fast action/sports scenes using the GH2's 720p mode or the 1080i mode?

thanks

I am looking to do the same thing on an upcoming documentary and have tested both quite a bit. the 72060p really seems better for this. You loose a bit of resolution but if there is a lot going on in the frame it looks much cleaner and smoother, particularly in slowmotion

Do you then scale all your 1080/24 footage to 720 or upscale your 720 to 1080?

I am planning to scale up to 1080P - but I will do some more testing on that when the time comes. So far the 720 looks pretty good scaled up as long as there is something going on

I used to import 720p60 source files and play them in 23.976 or 23.98 frames per second to slow it down. In this case I prefer 125 shutter speed. Then export to 1080 if needed.

720p 50/60 fps is awesome for action motion footage especially if the camera is mobile as well. Jello is minimal and if you use high shutter speeds, individual frames will be sharp ready for further processing like stabilization or extracting stills.
