Shooting Slow Motion

We had initially planned to shoot this on the Canon 5D, but soon realized that we wanted something higher than 60fps, something the 5D only did with post effects, so we used the Phantom, capable of 1000fps. As it turns out shooting that high speed, was too much for what we needed and settled for 300fps. We think it turned out well. Interested in your input...

Warning: May contain explicitly hot scenes ; )

Thanks!

Very creative, and unique approach.
Maybe save the opening shot of the girl with the running eyeliner for the closing shot it's one your viewer will remember. Also the shots at the end with the chips could be at the opening to make the story more clear from the start. That's my view only.
The cuts could be more on the music hits.
It's a 42 sec spot which is long and doesn't need to be for a standard broadcast commercial. Cut it to 30 and loose your least favorite shots, then cut a 15 sec version to see how well it plays. Great effort, shoot another, it will pay off for you.

Why would you spend the time to rent and work with a fantom for a stupid F-ing Doritos commercial. People who enter these contests are idiots. No offense. I hope it didn't cost you much... The winner is just going to be some 10 year old girl who shot something "cute" with her ipod.

Not true, I find its stupid to enter those contests because the winner will be someone who has the money to pour into it, or has acess to a lot of value in friends and equipment.

Last two contests I saw has winners who had $3,000 + of value, even if 0$ was spent.

Now that's a constructive statement. Try something positive. It's not about the contest, it's about the effort.

I'm sure for the OP the 'experience' was priceless.

Maybe this was the OP's first experience with the phantom, (oh it is PHantom btw...not Fantom)- and with that, I'm sure they learned a ton about production/post workflow with a highspeed cam like the phantom.

Maybe they'd used it a hundred times- and yet still honed their craft just a bit more, with yet another experience w/ the phantom--we don't know, that info isn't offered.

Maybe they've used it a thousand times and have a sweet deal with the rental house that they get gear from w/ some nice discounts--and didn't spend much or any money at all- we don't know...

...none the less BWHITZ, none of this matters, it's neither here nor there, the bottom line is, it is their decision to have used the phantom, and the OP was looking for some constructive feedback.

FYI- for someone who just joined this forum in Feb of this year, you should know up front that this isn't a some Playstation/xboxlive forum, (nothing against those companies btw), w/ mudslingin' know-it-all, videogame style kid banter. This is a respected site with very knowledgeable people- where the not-so-knowledgeable come to gain some. You won't be welcomed with statements like yours.

Rethink your posts:D
