Shooting question...

So say you would like to film something in 24pA for the 24p look, but there are bits of it that you want to do in slow motion and the like. How exactly would you do this? I mean, do you just straight shoot in 60i, and then do a bunch of stuff to somehow make it work in a 23.97 timeline?

Yes. For slow motion, film in 60i and put in your 24p timeline. That its self will make is look slower, and then slow it down another 160%-180% for good looking slow motion.

Ok, but what if you want everything else to look normal speed, just the certain parts?

Would that be just a simple film in 24pA then use a slower shutter speed?

If you are editing in a 24p timeline dont mix 60i and 24p. sloing something down to 160% is speeding it up. you can shoot 24pa and slow down you footage to around 40% it wont look as good as 60i slow motion but works fine, it will look more like film though. 24p and 24pa slows down the speed of the tape therefore capturing more frames without interlacing so if you mix it with 60i in your timeline it will have these horizontal intelace lines.

completely wrong.

if you are shooting in 24pA, then the parts that you want to be slwo motion you should shoot in either 60i and drop it into the 24pA timeline and slow it to 40%, or shoot 30p, intemperate it as 23.976 fps and drop it into a 24pA for 80% slo mo.
