C300: Shooting Polo

Has anyone filmed or photographed polo match? Need to know how do you do it. How do you anticipate, move around and position yourself?

Plan is to do both stills and filming.

If sitting in place and track the event is better, then which place would be the best? (I have long telephoto lenses).

I will have a 1D Mark IV, 5D III and the C300 at my disposal.

Haven't filmed a polo match, but can provide a few tips...

Shooting both stills and filming is a tough order best done by two folks as optimal exposures require different settings/goals.
For video you want to stay at 1/48 shutter which means you will be using a heavy ND, for stills you're typically looking to freeze the action to avoid blur.
In terms of cameras, I'd probably set up a wide shot of the field using the 5DIII to use the a safety cutaway, and roam around with a Mark IV for stills, while the c300 on a lightweight tripod or monopod.

I did Polo.

Had my FS100 on sticks with a 400 2.8 - rigging that was such an annoyance that once the lens was on it had to stay on for the match.

I did a wide with my 5d (24-105)

Shooting sport with a fixed tele prime is extremely hard because you lose the action - as opposed to a video camera where you follow the action and then zoom in (even if the zoom is cut in the edit)

As for adding stills, well Id keep that separate, maybe the bigger canon with a 70-200 or 300 2.8
