Shooting on the XH-A1

You did an awesome job on this film!!! I give it 5 stars. Your storyline is great! Cinema photography is to die for. How did you achieve such a sharp image with the A1? Can you explain?

yeah I couldnt be bothered registering with that site to see the video. Please up to vimeo or even youtube.

I like the storyline and editing - very creative throughout - I guess the audio sounded like you had a big boom mic shoved in a small room but it could be my speakers. Regardless it was a very well thought out film that engaged me till the credits and I have watched a lot of the doorpost films and most did not take me that far :)

Cheers,
Brian

I really like your film. "Simple" Yet very effective. Great reveal at the end and I liked the use of the fade to whites. Great work!

How was it to work with Royce Dudley as your DP?

Thanks for the comments!

Royce Dudley is SUPERMAN. As much as he moans and groans about my camera, he ALWAYS gets beautiful picture. As to how we got sharp images off the A1... I would attribute it to Royce.

I gave him a mood sheet and he made it happen. He paints with light... it is fascinating.

Sorry, I can't put the film up on Vimeo or YouTube. When we were selected into the Doorpost, we had to sign away internet rights for 3 years.... :violin:

The signup is rather painless.

Get ready for it buddy... I'll let you know what I really think.

1.) I enjoyed the concept of the film on many levels because many of us have dealt with cheating. It might of been a tad bit over the top, but it's a short film and it worked.

2.) 90% of directing is casting and your main lead was a great selection. He was talented and delivered the role. The father did a decent job, although I felt some sympathy for him but then I realized that he was a cheating bastard. Take this with a grain of salt, but I feel as if there was a lack of chemistry from your actress to the rest of the crew.

3.) The pacing was really good especially for a short. You promised a short and entertaining package, and the FedEx man delivered.

4.) Your choice of cinematography was good. Canted angles gave a great feel to the short and subject. The choice of shots were excellent also and good selection that kept me entertained.

5.) Your set and props were a good choice. I did no notice anything out of the ordinary on set which heightened the level of credibility.

All in all. Great job! I won't rate it, but the fact that you shot with an A1 gives you an automatic thumbs up... Haha
