Hi Guys,

I'm planning to shot today at 720p 50fps and not 1080 25fps because I want to slow it down some scenes a litle bit 30-40%.

1) Will I have no Problems to convert at the End to PAL 25fps? I have to deliver a PAL File.
2) Shutter speed 100?

Please confirm. Thank you.

Depending on your video editor this may not hold true but in Premiere if you take 60fps footage and put it into a 30fps timeline (im in ntsc land obviously but the same holds true for pal land) it will play back at normal speed. Im not sure what it does with the extra frames but you dont notice a thing. In order to get it to play back at 50% speed (i.e playing at 30fps) then you need to right click on the footage in your bin and go to modify>interpret then assume frame rate and set your frame rate from 60 to 30 or actually 59.97 to 29.97.

thats how i do it in premiere. I have done whole shoots at 720p60 and only slowed down 2 or 3 shots and it came our wonderfully.

Hope this helps

I would seriously consider thinking about just which shots you need to slow down and shoot 50p for those only. The 7D's 720p mode is terrible in quality compared to its 1080p.

We do this all the time with footage. Slow the bits you want and leave the rest at full speed.

However, the biggest issue is dealing with the aliasing that the 720p mode will give you if you are shooting anything with fine details or straight lines. It's for this reason alone that we never use the 720 mode on the 7D and use a regular video camera for slo-mo stuff instead :(

I have noticed the same thing with my t2i. 720p footage is not as crisp and has far worse aliasing issues. Its usually not a problem when im mixing the footage with HDV stuff however.
