Shooting and Post advices for these first videos I do

Hi everyone, I am from Cuba, just starting no. No high speed internet in Cuba so I have almost no reference of other people´s work. Everything was shot with 550d + 18-270mm, 50mm 1.8, Tripod as stabilizer.

Thanks in advance !

Hey man. I am from Lebanon, no high speed internet here too I know what you're going through :) Checking out your work, but ... erm... needs time to load. :) Cheers, T

I guess when you mean "first videos" you mean "with a DSLR", because they're quite good!
obviously you're using mediocre glass, and you could really use some better stabilizer method, but when you have an interesting subject to shoot everything else is relative (plus, I really liked the edit: the fast pace means you need a lot of footage, but I think it saved a couple of the pieces, otherwise the camera shake would have been an even bigger problem)

stabilization: knowing how things are in Cuba, I think your best bet is to try to get someone to build you a wooden counter-balanced shoulder mount
exposure: take a bit more care to avoid clipping the highlights (e.g. in the domino clip, at 0:32 all the background is clipped)
depth of field: I would have shot shallower in a few occasions, but with the glass you have maybe that's all you can do
edit: repeating a piece of footage in a clip is a bit distracting (I think I saw two repeated clips on the conga video)

some stabilization ideas:

Thanks for your time

Thanks for your time

Thanks a lot Norman, your tips are really apreciated. Actually I started with this DSLR, I bough it 18months ago and then I started doing photography and videos. I do my edit in CS 5.5. My 18-270 is f3.5-6.3 normally I shoot wide open but zooming in and out makes flicker. All the videos in that youtube channel are mine, please add me as a friend if possible. I will make a wooden shoulder rig, I made a metal one but it was not stiff enough. Will take a look now at the links you gave me, pages takes 10 and more minutes to load, lot of patience and timeouts involved. Thanks a lot again, if you find anything that might help me please send me the link (mostly DIY stuff that will help my productions). If you come to Cuba anytime let me know.Un abrazo,Ee

Please see my post below (it my first answer). The footage is not duplicated, but it truly looks like the same. For better exposure in Cuba´s high contrast scenes I will start testing the Cinestyle color profile for the camera. Thanks again.

I enjoyed watching your videos :) Having never been to Cuba, but having always wanted to, it was a nice glimpse into your fabulous culture. I put your work on YouTube Leanback on my bigscreen and you brought a little sunshine to my rainy days. Thank you.

Thanks a lot, good to know that you liked them. Traveling to Cuba should not be so difficult now...
