One of my clients wants to shoot a scene in the rain for a music video, I need some advice on things to consider when doing this. Shooting in 24p with T2i.

Well I was thinking simulating the rain with a water sprinkler overhead, this will be a close-up shot, but I was just concerned about the rain looking amatuer, what do I need to do to get the best possible shot; do I need to position my lighting a certain way, this will be an outside shot, being that I am in upstate NY more than likey there want be sunny skies, more gray.

Also I need some help on making my next purchase. I currently own 2 Canon XL2's Canon T2i editing with FCP, senn wireless mic set. I currently do not own a lightset, DSLR shoulder rig, steadcam etc. What should my next purchase be. I just bought a 50mm 1.8 for my T2i.

I am guessing that my next purchase should be a light set, but I need to know what is a good set for shooting video for under 600.00?

hmmm, I may run into the same issue...

I was thinking of using a sprayer, like the ones used for your plants sold at Lowes... Especially if its a tight shot....

Envision the shot, then decide what you'll need to get it.

Lighting will be critical.

One up rain shoots pretty much demand DIY prowess.

You might want to check out Gary Sconce's rig they used in the Stricken thread as a great example.

We shot some intense storm stuff using a garden hose, a pressure washer, and blasts from an airless paint sprayer for the extreme gusts. . .

Assemble what you've got to work with, then experiment - a lot.

Have some fun in the process. There's something about playing with water . . . .
