Shooting 720PN (editing question)

I'm shooting high volumes of content in the field with 2 HVX200's. We average about 500GB per day. Using 6 - 16GB cards per camera I have to use a sometimes very limited lunch hour to start copying cards to an HDD and on my way out the door again I begin a 50GB BluRay disc to archive.

Our output format is 720p/24p 59.98 and I would love to start shooting 24PN to get 42 minutes per card instead of 17 minutes. This would greatly decrease the amount of cards I have to dump at the end of the day.

Knowing nothing about the post side of things how tough would it be to convert the 24PN footage to 24p footage? Going from 23.98 to 59.98 is the hard part I would imagine.

Any suggestions?

Depends on what editor, but by all means you should be using 24pN mode. I don't know if there's any editor out there that can't take a 24pN sequence and output a 24P-over-60P output, is there?

Going from 24PN to 59.94 is a breeze with a capture card. The card converts it just fine. Since you are shooting 24P for the film look anyway, why not work 24PN.

Just know that switching this mid production might not be wise. Mixing frame rates like this might be an issue with some NLEs. FCP can take it, that I know, as I do that myself.
