Shoot P2, deliver HDCAM footage

Hello, I have a new client who is ok with me shooting on P2 and using the P2 workflow, they just want to archive the footage I shoot on HDCAM tapes. HDCAM has been their standard so far, so I need to accomodate them.
I'll produce and edit as normal, but need to provide these tapes with time code matching the original. What would your workflow for this be? What equipment would you need? Can I outsource for this by snding a hard drive with P2 files to someone? And, what settings should I use to insure compatability? 1080i? P?

Wow...well. Use FREE RUN timecode on the camera, start the timecodes on the hour, like 1:00:00:00 and 2:00:00:00. Record 30 seconds of bars, or black. Then when you import the footage into FCP, make sequences with matching code and drop the footage into those sequences, where they match up.

Output to HDCAM tape...you'll need an HD capture card, AJA, Matrox, Decklink...and an HDCAM Deck. Oh, and TriSync to deck sync. Although if you send a secondard SDI signal from the capture card to the REF IN on the deck that most often works.

HDCAM deck rental is about $500-$800 a day, depending on where you are located. And HDCAM tapes are...well...not cheap. About $60 per half hour.

I hope you budgetted for this...or can pass the cost onto the client. But since they "allowed" you to shoot on a tapeless format rather than what they required, I'm not sure how this will work out.

Good luck.

Treehouse Media in NYC made me 60min HDCAM master for $425. you hand them a hard drive with quicktimes. I did 1080i but I'm sure 720pn works as well. if that's too expense, you might want to consider renting a FCP online room and outputting the footage yourself.

also, I'm not sure why just hooking an HPX170 or a HPG20's HD SDI plug directly into an HDCAM deck's HD SDI plug and doing a hard record wouldn't work.. TC: EXT, TC: REGEN
