Shoot it, Share it! Contest

No. I work in broadcast and most of my stuff is :30 promos and commercials. So thats why I was asking if I could put up to six minutes of promos together as one entry. Like a campaign. I do this for The Emmy's as a composite.

actually that would be kind of cool, please consider.

Best,

Jan

I know some of our international folks are disappointed but there is just no way for us to deal with it. Sorry,

jan

Yea we know - if it's not in the 52 states it's not worth worrying about.

Panasonic doesn't just operate in the US (and a few other little countries) - unless I'm sadly mistaken it's a global company - where's the global attitude? if the idea is good for the US branch, why won't it work for other countries. it's a very blinkered attitude

You don't think Panasonic would do it globally if they could have? I don't know why everyone jumps to the conclusion that Panasonic decided to exclude international users. Jan said there was no way Panasonic could do it globally. Doesn't that suggest Panasonic at least looked into it, but wasn't able to? And POSSIBLY it was because of legal barrier of other countries not US or Panasonic?

Sony did a similar contest with their FS100 users in Europe only. That's just the nature of laws, taxes, liability, indemnity, and all that happy stuff.

I do have a US adress and live there for a few months a year, but Im a Mexican citizen. Does that apply?

Why don't you ask your local branch of Panasonic why they're not participating? The USA doesn't control what other divisions do (or don't do).

The USA division thought it was a good idea, so they're spending their own money to put on and promote the contest for their customers. If some other country's division of Panasonic doesn't support it, that's that country's division's choice, and your beef would be with them, not with the USA's division. Don't gripe at the folks who are doing something, instead gripe at the folks who aren't.

These companies have regional sales/support offices. Every one of these companies operates this way. There's a factory somewhere (typically in Japan), and then regional sales offices that buy the products from the factory and sell them to end users, do all marketing, and all warranty support.

There is no "worldwide" warranty, and there is no worldwide marketing effort. All marketing, and all warranty support, and all contests and promotions and rebates and giveaways and all that, are done locally (within a given region, such as the USA or Latin America or the Middle East or Europe or Southeast Asia or wherever the particular dividing lines are for each region).

not sure if there is even an incentive for non-US Panasonic markets to participate. This contest is a promotional vehicle to get the word out for the camera, and this helps other markets selling the camera as well. Some seller in Australia can point a prospective buyer to the US contest- if just to show what the camera can do.

I can see you find this frustrating, but as Barry mentioned this is Panasonic USA. FWIW Panasonic USA is not where the cameras are made. Point is each country / location run their own marketing campaigns / ways to interface with users.

To put a completely Australian spin on it and see the value Panasonic Australia add with the AF100 - compare the price of the Panasonic AF101 in Australia to the price in the US. Now compare any other brand camera or even another Panasonic camera and see the gap widen.

Thats no accident.

Hi Noel,

it just ticked me off - I do appreciate that it's a country by country thing but I would have thought that there would be some communication and planning / promotion on a global basis. The price in Aus is a really nice change - 1st camera I've bought here in a while.

how will pani know what the video was shot with? How do you prove it was made with an af100?

There is a review process. And please keep in mind that to submit and per se you win, and if found out, it is fraud, which is prosecutable. I would hope that people approach this with the spirit in which it is being run, we want to see what the AF100 shooters are doing with their cameras.

Hope that helps,

Jan

Agreed. There's nothing in copywright law that gives you fair use just for correctly attributing the source. You have to get permission from the copyright holder.

Disclaimer: I'm no lawyer, but I watched Matlock during its original run!

No permission. I assumed it was probably a no but I didn't want to start re cutting if I didn't have to
