Sharp 8K MFT Footage!

Interesting, I'll look forward to seeing one of these screens in the future!

Totally! Yeah, once we stop looking for sharpness and detail, it just begins to look like a backlit photograph.

Also, Black Magic had an 8K screen working in a split screen mode, and being able to see real detail in the windowed frames was such a great time saver.

Absolutely unimpressed.

By the way, how about testing something valuable, like the rolling shutter ?
A series of locked off shots of Vegas really doesn't tell us much.
No single thing would distinguish a camera like this from the mirroless/DSLR crowd than this question.

Wow. Lets put things in perspective for you yoclay.

Landed in Vegas at 3:30 PM Saturday.
Went to the convention center and picked up the camera. Sharp wanted the camera back on Sunday midday.
Went to the hotel to check in.
Matt and I go through the camera to figure out what works and how. It's a prototype without an actual menu and many functions didn't work like custom WB. It was locked at auto.
Hit the strip outside our hotel and tried to find scenes that stressed or at least tested the camera's ability.
Had a quick dinner and went back out after sunset to shoot at night.
Went back to the hotel to look at the footage. Can't play it. Have to transcode with software that would recognize the files.
Figured it out and looked at all we had. It's about midnight now. Let's shoot a video with our impressions of what we shot and using the camera.
The embargo for the article and sample footage was noon Sunday. Nailed the embargo.

Easy to throw stones.....

I have no idea how you guys Eric, in the 'news' medium can turn around stuff so fast - truly impressive. I've still have footage from last year I still need to look thou - and find for that matter. Let alone, shoot it, edit it, upload it and get it out there in under 12hrs.

Interesting times ahead, I really can't keep up! I've only just got into 4K 12bit and that blows my mind, let alone 8K stuff.

Enjoyed all the NAB stuff - appreciated to all at NewsShooter.

Eric. I am not impressed by the camera in terms of what I have seen.
That is all that any of us can go on.
The question of how the footage was shot is a side note.
It is not a critique of you. I don't need you to put things in perspective for me.
I Know exactly what it means to work under an exhausting schedule.
Instead of being defensive, why don't you look again at what I am saying ?

It takes no more energy to pan a shot than to do a locked off position. So this has nothing to do with your schedule.

Think about it, in the chase for higher resolution on a DSLR/mirrorless camera what is the thing that is most likely to be sacrificed after compression ?
Answer: the speed at which a sensor is being read. This is the defining factor as to just how "pro-sumer" it is.

It's not personal Erik. Actually, I quite enjoy seeing your interviews.
So let's leave it at that.
