Share with me your deepest, most profound quote.

When I found the skull in the woods, the first thing I did was call the police. But then I got curious about it. I picked it up, and started wondering who this person was, and why he had deer horns.
- Jack Handey

"When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in confederacy against him." - Jonathan Swift

"Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that."

-George Carlin

"The problem with quotes sourced from the Internet is that, much too often, they are believed to be real." - Theodore Roosevelt

"Foolish man, what do you bemoan, and what do you fear? Wherever you look there is an end of evils. o see that yawning precipice? It leads to liberty. You see that flood, that river, that well? Liberty houses within them. You see that stunted, parched, and sorry tree? From each branch liberty hangs. Your neck, your throat, your heart are all so many ways of escape from slavery . . . Do you enquire the road to freedom? You shall find it in every vein of your body?"
--Seneca

"Now... if you trust in yourself... and believe in your dreams... and follow your star... you’ll still be beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren’t so lazy." - Terry Pratchett

Pratchett has some particularly insightful quotes. My favorite of his is this one...

"No matter how fast light travels, it always finds the darkness has was there first, and is waiting for it." - Terry Pratchett

“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished by how much he'd learned in seven years.”

Mark Twain

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

Jesus.

I nearly typed this a couple times now... but clicked off the page thinking better of it... but... if you come across a crude person of ill-comprehension... I've phrased that as "f*** not with others as you'd have them not f*** with you".

In text it reads more crude and serious then I'd like... but for the "right type of person" this actually gets the point of personal responsibility to penetrate a thick skull.

There is no way possible in the world to get in trouble by keeping your mouth shut.
Just look at every mess you ever got in and you will find that your
(or someone's) tongue started it.

"The needs of the many outweigh than the needs of the few, or the one."

- Spock/Kirk

"Now begin in the middle, and later learn the beginning; the end will take care of itself."

- Harlan Ellison

The world is a great mirror. It reflects back to you what you are. If you are loving, if you are friendly, if you are helpful, the world will prove loving and friendly and helpful to you. The world is what you are.

- Thomas Dreier

This one is pretty cliche as far as profound quotes go, but I've always liked it.

"And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."

- Friedrich Nietzsche

Also, a favorite movie quote of mine will always be Roy Batty's (Rutger Hauer) closing lines from Blade Runner.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die."
