That last shot of the guy leaving with a smile was great. Overall, not bad. One thing that I found slightly irritating was the way the cuts were made, especially the jumps when the older guy puts the helmet on the kid. Still, good job.

yeah, that's what I get for working with a little kid. That was the best I could come up with for what I had. I tried to make the cut look as intentional as I could. I messed with that last shot for hours and this is the best I can do with it.

You got a great performance from the older guy though... the smile looked very natural, especially if you did a lot of takes. And remember, coverage, coverage, coverage. That way, you're not stuck with one angle, and if something isn't working you at least have the chance to cut away and come back with a different angle. On critical shots, it's always a good idea to backup with another angle or two (if possible, of course).

yeah definitely, that's one thing I wish I had done. Thanks for the positive feedback

I like it.

The dolly shots are great. Did you use a movie dolly or a skateboard?

I like the quality of light too. You chose a nice time of day-- smooth and warm.

About the editing, I think jump cuts are are becoming more and more acceptable. I too was caught off guard by the cut mentioned above. Could you shoot a quick cut-in to the bottom of the board, as it's being handed off?

Best,
Andrew

I took your guys advice and I fixed that last shot. I ended up making the cut less "jarring" and it works wayyyyy better now. I'll post it up.
