Shallow DOF possible with Anamorphic Adapter?

I'm thinking about picking up the adapter since much of my footage will soon be screened on 16:9 tv's, however I've heard all the focusing stories regarding using it and am interested in finding out if getting a shallow DOF is still possible when its on.

Well, an anamorphic adapter doesn't affect focal length or aperture, which are the two primary determinants for DOF, so I don't see how it would be a problem.

It's a big problem, and no, you basically can't have shallow DOF when you use the anamorphic adapter.

The problem is that the anamorphic focuses the vertical elements in the frame at a different plane than it focuses the horizontals. You have to zoom out and stop down in order to get enough DOF to hold both elements together.
