awesome footage,got some questions
how many stops do you lose? how fast is your lens? how much do you have to zoom in and what focus setting does it have to be in on the DVX?

Looking good! My favorite part was the driving shots, especially the one at 6:55, I think the accidental vignette works really well there, actually! And the next shot of the hands on the steering wheel is awesome too.

Z87 mf32 is my sweet spot, that is the max the DVX can zoom and also get the correct backfocus, at least on my set up. The lenses I used on this film where the 50m f1.4 (most of the film) and the cool funky nikkor 35~105mm F.3.5 pull zoom. The nice thing about it is that when you pull it out and grab focus, the focus is the same when you put it back at 35mm, so its much like the DVX lens but it has much less DOF. on the 1.4 50m I am seeming to loose a little less than a stop maybe .6-.7 I have yet to do some official tests but thats what it seems to me like. I just shot some amazing footage today with a arsenal of different lenses, including a 70~300 F4, 50mm 1.4, 20mm 3.8, and a 135mm F2.8, all performed wonderfully. The next vid I will have will come out on the 31st and I will label each shot for what lens was used.

Keep The comments coming!

how long does it take to set up? i'm trying to decide between the SGpro and the Brevis, i read the Brevis is super quick to set up and use. Also how do you find focusing with the DVX do you use a monitor or just the DVX's screen?

What you are forgetting to include in your light loss observations, is the zoom in factor.

The fact that your going from full wide, to zooming in all the way telephoto on your dvx will probably kill 2 stops of your cameras F stop. then there is the additional light loss from the adapter itself. So you are probably losing anywehre from 2.5-3 stops.

I understand that the dvx will say OPEN at any moment that the lens is at the widest it can be. So do this. Zoom out completely, go up one third of a stop ( i believe it can go in increments of 1/3rd or 1/4 stops ) note the fstop, then zoom in all the way. It might still say open, but now go another 1/3rd of a stop more closed and note what the number says now. It might be at 2.8 or even 3.
You have to factor this in.

Papa, You are right, When zooming in I loose more light than when the pull zoom is at 35mm, 2.5-3 stops, thats hard to believe. All the footage in here was when there was hardly any light. Moojangles, I have had alot of experiance with cameras and from opening the box of the SGpro, I swear that first scene was taken no longer than 15 min after receiving the package. I dont have any kind of external monitor (I want one badly) so all of this is using the DVX's monitor on the camera, work ok in good light, but in a lot of light I can really pull focus that well. Give another hour and Im going to have my newest stuff up from yesterday! Keep the comments flowing.
