SGPro, Magic Bullet and smoking.

Hello my dvxuser friends.
Unfortunately I had to remove my sgpro adapter from my dvx this weekend to film a bachelor party for my soon to be married friend, and I didn't want to expose my sgpro for an all nighter in the forest with 20 drunk men :) But now my sgpro is back on my dvx again with duct tape all over, just the way it likes it. I am of course still worried if I have the focus nailed down as sharp as before I took the adapter off, and decided to do some tests while I enjoyed a cigarette. I'm not shure if it's as sharp as the last time, but maybe you'll see the difference. Shot with shutter 1/50, pentax 55mm f.1.2 @ 2.8, and pentax 28mm f.2.8 @ 2.8.
I also went a little banans with magic bullet.

Quicktime h.264, 40sec. , 576X432, 35mb.

Thanks dude. But I notice now that it's a little bit softer than usual, so i will have to adjust the focus on the GG again.

what are you scene file settings while shooting? Looks very clear and crisp no grain what so ever. Also is your iris wide open when you shot this?

Hello decard. My scene file is F6, my iris at the dvx varied, but it was somewhat around 5.6.

Nice. I think you should play around more with the DVX's focus, shooting a well lit peice of paper with black lettering or something with high contrast, high detail. This will help you nail the focus.

also use the auto focus on the gg with no lens. then put on a lens focus on something and hit auto focus again. it will be pin sharp.

Thats a really good tip, thanks!
But one thing, I cant use the auto focus in progressive mode (first version dvx), but if I have it in interlace, then auto focus on the GG and turn it back to progressive mode again, that should work right ?

yea and yo udont even have to "untape the focus ring". you jsut use the Autofocus button.

Hahah, I love that you answer so quickly, I was just about to take off the tape again :) I'm an idiot.
Thanks again!

Really good tip actually. Tape the focus ring, then auto focus. Then there is no fear of moving/nudging the focus ring while taping it!

I'm so happy! Just did it in a couple of seconds, dont need monitors or anyting.
Heres a grab from my kitchen I just shot now:

Thats pretty sharp isnt it?

looks good to me. Wait till you try it in HD and the infocus aparts are as sharp as stock footage :) I love me some SGpro.

Hello, I have my detail set to "- 4" , and gamma set to: " normal" . And scene
file F6. Correct me if I'm worng Wayne, but I think the adapter including rails and a nikon mount is at £455 british pounds.

To confirm Timurs award winning GG focus technic I added some grabs from today:
