So lets say I'd like to have this wrapped under the tree for for Christmas.. Is that looking likely or are things really just not that far along. Im just not sure when SOON and ALMOST is upon us.
Yes, I am sure we all feel the same way and understand that developing and getting the thing mass produced must be a royal pain in the arse, so sorry that we nag so much... but: "Are we there yet?"
I'm trying to understand why a relay is needed for EX3...
The existing solutions are almost perfect or as good as the HVX200 in terms of edge sharpness, I have seen numerous tests from various adapters and all work the same... The cost of the fixes are in the range of 100$ to 300$ in almost all manufactures...
Having in mind the existing solutions for EX3...
A relay will cost around 2000$ to 4000$, this added cost would be acceptable?
We hope to have ordering online end November/early December. Shipping will no doubt be in January.
We are taking a trip to our main machine shop next week to approve the sample parts and they will begin production run. A LONG project but we are finally there
EX3 relay shorter, hmm... 70mm would be the shortest relay...
Faster than F2.8 its really difficult... I sincerely hope the other offerings could reach the F1.4 or even F2 with the same performance as our Rev2 has at F2.8...
I just don't see a relay being viable for now. Anything above 2.0 makes it less efficient than the stock Fujinon glass and you also lose the ability to zoom in/out. The latter is what makes your average prime into a variable prime. When the adaptor is sharp enough you can get away with this zoom in. I can't see any degradation on my Ultimate and I'm hoping the sharpness / grain characteristics on the Blade are similar.
To make a relay at 2.0 or lower, with the ability to zoom, with optics as clean or better than Fujinon's and at a reasonable price (2 grand) is a huge order for a small output company. It can be built, but I think at a price that has you looking for used RED's.
I agree with you Tim. I was thinking about switching from my ex1 to an ex3 if there was a good relay option, but it seems like when its all said and done I won't be gaining much (if anything).
