I own a 100B- EXAMPLE of GRAIN that I am not happy with

http://exposureroom.com/members/TR.aspx/assets/bee935cdb36741a5ad720f191cf845da/

I do not shoot with the GAIN ever turned on. I shoot mostly natural light, except in the studio with a small 3 light system. Lately I've noticed a bit more grain in my images.

My settings Are: Scene file F6- 24PA

Detail level - 7
v detail level 0
Detail coring +5
Chroma -1
Chroma phase 0
color temp +1
Master Ped -15
A iris level -3
Gamma Cinelike
Knee Auto
Matrix Cinelike
Skin tone OFF
V Detail THIN
Progressive 24PADV

Thanks for your help~

Seriously man,

If you want the best answer, buy an HVX 200a.

That footage looks like good dvx footage. I think the master ped is a little low but thats just personal preference. What are your compression settings? VBR 2 pass? What are you using to render?

I seriously think your problem lies with the fact that it is in fact SD so with that comes grain, at least when viewing the footy in hd. Hook it up to a standard def television and see how it looks.

Your footage looks pretty awesome, very cinematic. Looks completely normal to me. The DVX is a bit noisy compared to other cams, even with the setting you have, which are pretty good for combating noise. The DVX noise is rather film-like anyway.

All that being said, if you have the iris open wider than F2.8, you'll start to see some additional noise, and if you are manual white balancing trying to compensate for extreme lighting scenarios, there is essential channel gain going on, and that can cause some noise. Overall, though, you're looking good, and maybe you've just been staring at the screen too long?
