Settings / Suggestions for nature shooting

Hey, I've just been hired to shoot a B roll for a background on NBCshop, and I'll be doing primarily outdoor shots of nature, trees, etc.

I Have the DVX-100a, and I'm wondering if you guys have any tips or suggestions for optimizing settings on the camera, or specific tricks to make things look or feel better.

Any help is appreciated!

First, you need to talk to the client and see what they're looking for. Will you be shooting 24p or not? Tweaking 24p and tweaking 60i are two totally different beasts.

As Darren said, get a polarizer. That will help you pull a really nice blue out of the sky, cut down on water reflections, etc. And you might want to make sure to have an extra ND filter or two on hand just in case (do you have a matte box with filter stages?).

As for in-camera settings, stay as neutral as possible, especially if you are not the one to be editing the footage. The more you tweak in-camera, the less control the editor will have over the image in post.
