Settings for Timelapse

Does anyone have any advice when filming timelapse?

Not so much the interval times, but the aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings, i tried filming something a sunset timelapse and had the iso on auto and the picture became grainy when it became dark,

should i keep the iso on a certain speed?

Hmm I was just reading an article about this very topic (timelapses from day into night). Basically you want to keep the ISO the same, since as you discovered the noise will increase otherwise, and instead vary the shutter speed. You will want to start out with an ISO that will work with at night, rather than first setting it for the daylight. That way you have an ISO that remains constant (so constant noise levels) while it gets darker.

I didn't get very deep into it (got interrupted :D ) but it seems there are some methods of automatically varying shutter speed over time in a timelapse. Perhaps someone else knows more about this.
