Settings for Sports for the web

I was looking for some advice for what settings I should set my new dvx100b. I am shooting soccer goalkeeper drills to post on my website. I will be using some very slow motion in some of the videos. I have read some things about different setting for slow motion and different settings for shooting for the web. Any suggestions of what would look the nicest? Also, any good cheap editors out there? I spent all my money on the camera (haha)

I shoot 60i with my DVX when doing sports.

Everything else is 24p.

IMHO you need 60i for sports. You can almost forget those slow motion replays that you will need if you don't shoot it.

I agree that you shouldn't buy this camera to shoot 60i. You can save yourself a lot of money and go with something else if thats what you are going to do, but there are times when you need to shoot 60i and if you already have this camera then why not use it?

Don't sacrifice your quality of output just cause a couple of film guys are knocking 60i.

Its what all sports are shot until you get up to the big boys that shoot 60p.

Well what kind of sports. Team sports like baseball and football, yeah those do good to be shot at 60i. But man sports like skiing and mountain biking should be shot at 24p at all times EXCEPT for slowmo.

Any time you will doing fast pans you should opt for 60i IMO.

I do agree that shooting a skier that you are following or leading should be shot in 24p for sure!

As well as mountain biking.

If you are however on a tripod and they will be zooming by you then you need to shoot in 60i or you are going to get choppy footage.

Ok, thanks for everyone’s input. So would it be a good idea to shoot the intro of the videos and me explaining the drills in 24p and then shoot the fast action drills in 60i?

You ever tried shooting a DH racer (mountain bike) with a sideshot in 24p? it looks AMAZING! Especially with a 1/48th shutter.

I just started shooting my son's baseball in 30p. This is because I was unhappy with squeeze mode in 60i... it wasn't pretty. I don't do much slo-mo. Just a thought...
