settings for FCP

What settings do you use to edit on Final cut Pro with the canon 7D?

the only thing is im still using FCP 5 and have yet to upgrade

If you don't have ProRes options, try DVCPRO HD as an intermediate.

5 years is long time these days...

Try this, not sure if FCP 5 has this option, but it works.... It does take a some time for the clips to convert though.

That link recommends ProRes HQ, which is totally unnecessary for 7D footage. ProRes LT is more than sufficient. And using MPEG Streamclip works much quicker than going through FCS.



Also, ProRes is unavilable in FCP 5.

Have you compared the two side by side on compression ? I would think FCP would be a much more efficient program to compress footage. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for the heads up.



Where is the 7D on color sampling anyway ? 4:2:0 or 4:2:2
