I looked around a little bit and couldn't find alot of information on exporting OUT of final cut (everything was getting it in).

I did the mgepgstreamclip workflow to convert to pro-res(LT). I'm using Final Cut 5 so I dont think it automatically adjust's the sequence for your video so I've used these settings:

The Video File Settings are:

Then to export I use these settings as a quicktime movie format:

It won't play back in quicktime or vlc cleaning usually out of sync or vlc freezes at points.

Just want a good quality version to have original and for internet.

I just tried to use 720 size and it helped a little bit. Still a little choppy. I'm using a Macbook Pro 15 (2005) with 3gb of ram. Even with all programs closed it still doesn't play back perfectly smooth so I dont think its the computer

Is there some reason you are not exporting to the same codec as your sequence settings, namely ProRes(LT)? If there is, then you need to export to whatever codecs are appropriate for your intended use, which can be a more complicated question. There is loads of information on this issue--the guides that came with FCS might be a good place to start, particularly the document titled "Final Cut Studio 3 Workflows" under the heading "Output and Delivery".

I just was going going with what was more common for youtube/vimeo settings. However even with the same pro-res(LT) codec in exporting I still do not get a smooth image.

UPDATE:

I also just realized this is the first time I've tried to output as 1080. Maybe it can't play back on my computer well as I have less problems playing back 720.
