Settings for 7D when shooting video

Hello to the 7D enthusiasts!

Recently I have added a Canon 7D to my freelance equipment list. I am a videographer/editor for a CBS affiliated television station. I do strictly short form commercial work by day. I run a freelance production service on the side where I do many related things.

Having never owned a DSLR (in my life!) I am finding there's a bit of a learning curve in shooting video. Primarily I feel this is because of all of what I am accustomed to look for in video cameras.

Does anyone know of articles, books, or other resources that might plunge into information on maximizing the video quality capable of the 7D? Or video using DSLR's?

Pretty much the whole 7d section of this site...and cinema5d.com. Not to mention trial and error...

Good Luck!

thanks Galbach! I have made it that far. The 7D section here is a wealth of information of which I am appreciative for. I have gathered much useful info here that has assisted in working with the 7D.

Sources that explicate specific key fundamentals in shooting video using a DSLR camera I guess is more what I am looking for. I learned recently that one can not obtain a focal point by zooming into your subject, zooming out and expect the subject stays sharp without a lens specific to shooting video when it comes to DSLR cameras. That method of pulling a focus for video cameras has been the norm across the board in my experiences.

I consider myself very "green" when it comes to shooting on a DSLR. I felt that it was easier to inquire about the basics by requesting referrals of known articles or books to the more experienced community members here. As opposed to posting several elementary questions that could bring me up to speed.

Has anyone purchased this tutorial?

I am curious to know if people feel it is worth the price. A 1-hour tutorial for $130 seems a little steep. I was recently looking into getting a DVD tutorial covering HD workflow in Final Cut by a well known and respected editor. The price for this DVD is $99 for 6-hours of content.

Pretty expensive and you can find everything he covers on the various internet boards like DVXuser, DVinfo and cinema 5d. However, if you don't want to research the boards and don't mind the price, go for it. It does have the basics in a convenient package.
