Setting face exposure on 60D in video mode

o.k. sorry for being so dense on this one but I'm coming from a "show the the 70% zebras on my subjects face" to know if I'm overexposing their face.

So, I just got the 60D and (in video mode) I can't figure out how to meter a specific area within the frame. Say for instance my interview subject is on the 1/3 vertical third. I know how to move the AF box over there and focus (with AF Live mode) but the metering doesn't seem to make any sense. I want to expose for the face at that 1/3 vertical third. How do? It seems to be exposing for the entire frame.

Yes, I'd like to stay at 2.8 at 60FPS, and adjust the ISO to compensate. I guess I don't understand what area it is metering. I'm I going to need to physically move the camera towards the subjects face so it fills the frame, to get a read while in video mode? How come I can't just move that little box thingy over to get the read?

My goal is to expose for the face but any general explanation in this entire area will help a lot.

Thanks.

Short of using a separate lightmeter, you'll just have to go by eye. Don't go by what the meter says on the camera as it only uses 1 evaluation point, as far as I know

So it's using that one evaluation point or getting some kind of average for the whole shot it seems. What if I zoom in on just the face first and get that reading and then lock that in (possibly in manual still mode)? and then take that setting over to video mode.

That zoomed in reading is supposed to be for 18% grey which is facial tones? I guess thats the part thats confusing me - it seems the face is the utmost importance in exposure and it's taking a scene average?

thanks
