I don't know if this is just my problem, but the SESCOM LN2MIC-ZMGHN-MON cable can't plug fully into the GH2's mic port. I've seen demo's and user reviews about this cable with the GH2 and none of them mention this. Wondering if I just have a faulty cable or something as it's a pretty jarring design problem!
The round base of the plug is too big to fit into the socket fully. What happens is the cable has a loose connection and often it would invariably loosen enough that reduces it to mono and suffers bad audio quality. I tried using gaff tape to secure it but it would only work temporarily. Even worse if I'm run 'n gunning due to the increased movement.
I'm after having now put my GH2 under the knife, carefully carving the edge of the socket to make it bigger (not the mic port itself, but the space around it under the flap). Now the plug can connect fully and securely.
