I went ahead and bought the GH2 with the 14-42 kit lens.
The more I research, the more disappointed I become with the whole "DSLR" industry. Though these cameras can take amazing video, the whole system just isn't very "video" friendly. (Yes, a real video camera would have been better for my needs, but even a used HMC150 just wasn't in the budget. And I am trying to add more corporate and narrative work to my roster, both of which will be well served with the GH2.)
My newest venture is to add the video standard "servo zoom" to manual lenses. I was hoping to find an affordable servo follow focus and just hook it up to the zoom ring on the lens instead of the focus ring. But it's surprisingly difficult to find servo follow focus rigs. The first several pages of Google are filled with DIY options. I don't want to do this myself. I want to just buy one from a reputable company and hook it up.
Is anyone aware of such an animal?
