can the p2 marry clips together to form one large clip as opposed to creating a new clip each time you stop recording?

Can the p2 marry the audio files directly to the video clip as opposed to saving them in a seperate folder?

still fairly new to this thanks guys

BTW im using Edius to import

When you bring the P2 clips into the Edius bin, just drag them into a sequence, Edius will arrange them by timecode. At that point the individual clips have essentially become one -- when you render them to create your deliverable, there won't be any breaks.

There is no need to mate the audio and video clips manually, Edius will do that as well.

Please note that you need Edius Broadcast to work with P2/MXF. The current version is V4.51c, and V4.52 should be out the first week of October.

It just occurred to me that you may be going about loading the P2/MXF files into Edius the wrong way.

While you can in fact drag what's on a P2 card into the bin, doing so is cumbersome and counterproductive, because you a) wind up going into the CONTENTS\VIDEO and CONTENTS\AUDIO folders and adding what's there manually, and b) Edius won't automatically combine spanned clips or the audio.

The proper way to get your assets into Edius is to use the "P2 Select" tool in the Capture menu. This will either add the files in their current location to the bin (for when you've already copied the P2 card contents to your hard drive), or copy and import (for when you are offloading a P2 card or P2 store, for instance).

"P2 Select" will even handle the copying in the background, so that you can start to edit immediately -- the project you are importing the assets into will initially be set up to work with the files in their current location (the P2 card), and when the copying has finished, "P2 Select" will transparently update the project to reference the copied files in their new location.

thank you so much im gonna try this out tommarow. im so used to working with mini dv that all of this has been pretty overwhelming.

thanks again
