Separate sound levels from one input?

I'm sure I can find this out quickly in the manual, but I don't have it at hand. I use an XH-A1 at one of my jobs and I just found out the other day that I don't know something. When recording to both channels from one XLR input, I couldn't figure out how to record at separate levels (leave one a little lower than the other in case of clipping). Surely this is possible and I just couldn't figure it out. And, of course, I had the audio on manual, but it still wouldn't let me change the channel 2 level. I'm assuming it's a menu setting, but I didn't have time to dig around in the middle of this shoot. Thanks for any help.
 
Thanks, Huy Vu. I was hoping that wasn't the case. That's a flaw in my opinion, but one of the very few this camera has for my purposes. After using the DVX almost exclusively for a few years (which I still love), it's been great having the iris control on the lens barrel, and a "manual" zoom ring that can offer fluid zooms. I really like this camera. Thanks again.
