Separate audio channels with adobe cs6

So I just got a wireless mic and want to use it at the same time as my shotgun mic. BUT with the fs100 the only way I have found to to use both at the same time is to have one at the Left channel and one as the Right. These come into FCP as two channels (which you can separate) but in adobe they're paired into one channel. I came from a hvx where there were 4 channels of audio L/R of input 1 and L/r of input 2 I would like a result like this. Does using the 5.1 dolby fix this? I have not tested yet, but I feel like it wont? Am i missing a simple menu item? Help!

If you mean they come in as a stereo pair, you can change the import settings to make them individual mono channels. I do that with my AF100 as I have the lavs on one side and the boom on another side of the mixer then line in to L & R on the camera.

You can fix the ones you have now but need to do it for each file. Then you can change your import settings if you want to do that regularly.

oh, okay. I figured it was an easy fix. Luckily, the only shots i have with wireless + shotgun were tests.

So when I transcode I just need to change the option? Or is it something I need to do in camera? You said import so im wondering what your workflow is. I just switched to windows for editing, i used to use clipwrap on apple (dunno how to adjust audio there) but im trying new converter. What do you use?

That all being said, I tested out my 3 options for audio (pavtube) and mono made it all one channel, which is better, but not what i want. Stereo is what I used before, L/R are different audio and then i did 5.1 (didnt record 5.1) and it seemed very unbalanced too.

All three of these came out as one channel of audio. I'm looking to have two channels (v1, a1, a2). thanks guys

I am using CS5.5 and was having the same annoyance with the L R channels coming in as a stereo track that I couldn't separate and work with them individually on the timeline. I resorted to importing sound tracks as mono. But now when I export, it won't let me export as stereo, so I am exporting every project as mono. I never had this problem using Avid Liquid. I could separate and combine L and R channels at will after importing.

I usually have 2 cams with 2 audio channels each (wireless, onboard mic) and a couple or more channels from a sound recorder or two. I would like to, for example, work with 6 mono channels and then when I export, I think CS5.5 should be able to combine the results into stereo output without any input from me. Right now I don't know how that is accomplished.

In cs5.5 I just copy the clip (or the entire timeline) and paste it right back in. (over writing the video track and selecting a2 for the second audio track) apply fill left to one audio track and fill right to the other. Takes literally 10 seconds.. Just got CS6 for the other box, thanks for the link hscully.

I just set it up that whenever I pull in a file it will have separate audio 1 and 2 instead of left and right stereo. I work directly with CS6 without and transcoding. I mostly work with AVCHD files from the AF100. CS 6 works natively with all sorts of files.

Thanks, Chris.

Adobe needs to take a lesson from the defunct Avid (formerly Pinnacle before the bought and killed it) Liquid, where separating audio tracks or combining audio tracks was just a click. And while it was doing that it was rendering in the background, and saving the project automatically every time a change was made.
