GH5 Sensor Rattle While Recording Video

I definitely like the GH5 for stills. The IBIS is amazing for that and the photos are fantastic. I’m definitely going to get the GH5S and then maybe the GH5 too. I just need video first.

As far as the walking smooth goes, I was using it on a Ronin-S held out at a 45 degree angle. Most of the test videos are a bit shaky, especially the last I made testing a gimbal strap which was a disaster for what I’m trying to do. What was a show stopper was when I was walking very carefully and smooth and just the camera moving in a slight forward and back motion with no jarring resulted in a loud plastic slapping plastic sound in the resulting video. It just doesn’t suite my needs unfortunately. The GH5S most likely will be great and I get better low light. I just have to be patient and save up a bit more.

As far as the Panasonic 4/3 ending, I think that’s doubtful. Many don’t want bulky cameras, buy new lenses, etc. I could be wrong for sure.

The mic is internal BTW. I plan on buying the rode stereo videomic x. It’s possible that the external mic wouldn’t have detected the sound, but it was very loud.

Have a look at the BMPCC 4k - it's large 5" screen is perfect for gimbal use and it's a lot cheaper than a GH5s

Bought the GH5S and the sensor, like the GH5, is not fixed, and rattles. Would someone who has the GH5S hold it up to their ear and tilt it forward and back and let me know if there’s any rattling?

Same shaky unusable footage. GH5S + Ronin-S + 8-18 Panasonic

I wouldn't call it shaky. There's something seriously wrong with that video. It reminds me of early low-bandwidth internet trying to deliver video.

Make sure your device/internet is capable and that the YouTube video quality is set to 1080p or higher.

I’m more talking about the roll axis micro wobbles, the trees wiggling back and forth, etc. This is something I've only seen with the GH5 series that contain the Yahtzee dice sensors. This didn’t happen with the GH4. If you have a GH5S, please help me out by holding it up to your ear and tilt the camera forward and back allowing the sensor to fall forward and back. You should hear a clicking that sounds like something tapping against plastic. Be honest, do you hear the click? If you do, that means the sensor is not fixed in place like people are thinking/saying all over the internet. If you don't hear it, move to a quiet room and try again. If you still don't hear it, I suppose I could be very unlucky, having bought 3 GH5/GH5S cameras that have this rattle. Not stabilized does not mean fixed in place, unfortunately.
