Sennheiser MKE 300 problem

Hey,

A friend of mine gave me his Sennheiser MKE 300 mic as it had developed a problem.

When he gave me it the cable wasn't attached to the mic, so i soldered it back on and when i plugged it in to try it, i found the fault.

It's making a really loud hissing and you can barely hear the sound under all the hiss.

I've tried a different cable & a new battery, but the results are just the same. :crybaby:

Anyone have any suggestions, seems a shame to throw the mic away as it's in good shape apart from this fault.

I can post an audio clip of the mic in action if that might help?

Forgive the stupid question, but the problem he was having before handing off the mic to you, was that the same thing, or was that just the busted cable?

That mic has a 1/8" mono connector, if I'm not mistaken. I'd assume the HV30 has a stereo mic input and probably tries to provide plug-in power to the mic, so it may be that you'll need to work out some kind of adapter.

Hi,

The mic had the same problem with the hiss, i think he got angry with the mic and the cable came off.

The HV30 works fine with my little JVC mono mic, it just comes through the left channel.
