[FS: General] Sennheiser G2 wireless set with XLR plug transmitter

Newbie question, what exactly can you do with the XLR plug transmitter? Is this mainly for handheld interviews... or can you plug this into your shotgun mic and mount to a boom pole? Tks, Ben

Yes, IF the shotgun has an internal battery. The plug-on transmitter handles the audio, but can't supply phantom power to a condenser microphone. They have a more expensive model in the newer G3 series that does have phantom capability, but not the G2's.

I use mine mainly with a handheld dynamic interview mic, but there are other creative applications.

It is in the 500Mhz frequency block.

Tampawolf, this is one transmitter with a lav mic, one XLR transmitter, and one receiver, so it's one lav mic set.

francheezie, Greg's explanation of what the XLR transmitter is good for is excellent, and I have nothing to add to it.
