Senior Thesis (includes singing zombies) - Canon XHA1 Footage

This is the first time I've posted my work on dvxuser. Anyways, for my high school senior thesis, I did a few short films. My favorite of the three I did was "Friend, The Singing Zombie." You can check it out here: http://www.vimeo.com/3062238
I did all of the music, video work, writing, etc in it, so it took a long time to finish. The video is a product of my over active imagination so...just take that to heart :)

Everything was shot on a Canon XHA1.

Overall, it was a hoot. Of course, there were some pros and cons. Great image throughout, but the music sometimes overpowered the singing and it was hard to hear the lyrics... which is a real shame. For future reference, turn the music down. The Zombie could have used a little more make up, but with your limited resources, it was fine. There needed to be more blood, and you should have made it stand out as you did with the blue flower. That was very nicely done. I absolutely love the part where they threw the Teletubby at him, but the cop was... sorry to say this, really lame.

It had some moments of brilliance. I love the song/rap and the George Washington mask was the perfect touch of "WTF????" Also the Teletubby.

I would also like to know how this was tied into a senior thesis project, but based on any crap I did in high school, you should be very proud.

I liked your dolly shots around 4:05. Was the camera on the back of a car? The shots were smooth & quiet.

Most students do a traditional thesis which would be a long paper arguing some thesis statement. However, students with a past interest in an art can do a creative thesis. My original idea was to do a few short films in different styles. But as unpredictable as life can be, I ended up making videos about whatever I felt like at the time. One of my other thesis videos was an entry into the Diesel 24 hour film race (http://www.vimeo.com/1996551). We got 3rd place in St. Louis, so that was pretty cool too. "Smileyman" was another video (http://www.vimeo.com/1552820). I received an A on the whole project so I'm proud of that.

And yes, the shot at 4:05 was made with a car. I sat in the trunk of my friend's Explorer while he drove. Lots of fun shooting that.

I'm so glad some of you enjoyed it too. I wasn't really sure the reaction I'd get at a place like DVXuser where there are a lot of professionals and seasoned filmmakers.
