So, i'm still setting up a new business. "Ramping up" to a new life change after evacuating the cubicle in late January.

Switched from PC to Mac, Vegas to FCP. Learning the workflow. Shooting on my new twin B's as much as possible for the past couple weeks.

The following was filmed on Saturday and edited in about 5 hours. Didn't even know how to shut down the new Duo G5 3 weeks ago. My focus is non-fiction and Docs.

Practice, Practice, Practice.

I would never be able to survive beyond 15 minutes of that much physical activity. The RATM was an excelent choice for the music. I also really like the quick edits and the shots with a lot of depth.
Very nice.

Very cool!

Edited to the music very well (dog shot at the end was my fav.). Only thing that stood out to me was the freeze frame of the guy doing the sit-up about 1/4 of the way through. Sorta jumped to the still. Also, the color correction on the last shot seemed to seep into the widescreen bars as well.

9/10! Would watch again!

Yeah.. That kinda jump cut still on the sit up guy....I was gonna fix it, then I liked it...then I didn't...then I realized " I ain't getting paid for this. Practice, Practice, Practice.

Then on the end, I wanted the last still to pop. I was gonna posterize it..that was cheezy. Then I just saturated it, and it bled to the letterbox. Then I was like, "I ain't getting paid for this." Thanks for finding those flaws though. Good lookin out.

It was a nice enviroment to reap some real compelling video. more slow motion with close ups on muscle groups and facial struggles. these guys were going 110 percent and you shots didnt really bring that home. some shots were comin close though. the sit up shot especially until it was freeze framed. should have just slowed it down and not stopped it. stick with that theme though of real life internal drama, very interesting to watch, smiling actors need not apply

Thanks for the critical eye. I'll look for those things next time. It's difficult getting the actualities you want in an unfamiliar environment that quickly develops around you. That's why I love non-fiction. Sometimes you get it. Sometimes you don't.

Cheers.

Good luck with your venture into the realm of independent videographer/filmmaker. Stick it out and keep us updated on your triumphs.

It's not so bad switching from PC to Mac, is it? I just recently made the switch though I still use both equally.

FCP Rocks. No comparison in the bottom line. I do have a duocore G5 so I know that counts for something. I'm pretty functional after about a month on FCP. Just a matter of understanding the differences in layout. Somethings in Vegas are right there in your face easier as far as interface. But, the depth of FCP is sooooo helpful.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm shooting down in Ladera Ranch next Saturday.
