Selling my HVX...but is this guy trying 2 scam me?

i've sold about 30 things on craigslist and about 97% of the people have been just nice, normal folks. and the other 3% were just a little odd. nothing where id need a weapon ; )

craigslist can be a dangerous place, for buyers as well as sellers. but like anywhere else. a smart person should be able to smell a rat if theyre paying attention. trust your gut. if something sounds too good to be true. it is. and if something seems odd. just say no thanks.

Best practice on CL is to only sell locally. I live in NYC so its not difficult to find a local buyer. when it comes to payment, CASH ONLY. I will never accept paypal or checks of any type. meet in a Starbucks if your worried about getting robbed.

One of my actors in a commercial I shot went to deliver a bike he sold on craigslist and was SHOT IN THE FACE! Lucky to be alive. I hate craigslist. Its like the wild west of online shopping. Be careful. Its a scam.

i posted my hvx200 on craigslist, i didn't have time to post a photo because i was rushing that day, i even noted that there was a small defect with the cam.

i got a response asking if my listing price was final and if i had more than one to sell? i mentioned the price was final and i only had one to sell. i said "cash only" in case it was one of those automated spam things where they try to pay with those fake money orders.

the guy's next reply was this:

this SOUNDS legit, however i was a little surprised somebody would be willing to make a purchase without seeing an authentic photo of the item, or proof of how many hours that was on it (i listed there's only about 200 hours) but maybe that's just me?

so does this look like one of the many scams out there? is there anyway to get screwed by someone paying you through paypal? if he lives out of state why would i have to ship it internationally & does that even matter?

I was also selling a camera and I received that same identical email. I mean Identical! So yeah scam!!!

I sold a few things on craigslist but there are scammers but they're usually easy to spot.

I'd recommend setting yourself up as an Amazon.com seller. You have to pay a comission but you can move stuff faster. I sold my DVX100, DVC30 and HV20 there.

Can you do better on amazon than ebay? I've generally used Ebay, but am always up for trying new sites.
