Selling my 7D for.. + Which lens is better

Ok,I just got my 7D less than a month ago based on numerous recommendation from alot of people. I love the 7D but found that the 60D and the 550D are essentially the same. After finding out about that, it seems like a no brainer to me. I can get the same camera (with a slightly different build quality) for less than half of the 7D.

With that being said, the 7D has already been posted for sale and have some potential buyers. I currently have the Canon EF 28-135mm IS lens (that came with the 7D kit) plus the Canon EF-S Telephoto zoom lens 55-250mm.

Would you choose the 28-135 over the 18-135 IS lens (that comes with the 60D kit)? I've never used the 18-135mm so I dont know how good it is over the 28-135.

The 55-250mm seems ok (however I don't use it often). Is that a good lens or is there a better one for around the same price point?

None of those lenses are good. If you want a good zoom expect to pay $400-$1000+

or just get Prime lenses that look a lot better

Is there any that you'd recommend as a replacement for a good all around lens with similar zoom factors?

Also, how about older manual lenses? Can they be used as well and are they any good (in comparison to today's models)?

The 18-135 zoom is a decent all-around lens for when you want to be able to do fast point and shoot stuff. I wouldn't do the 28-135mm as 28mm just isn't wide enough for me on a crop sensor like the 60D/7D/t3i. You might consider keeping your 50-250 zoom and just adding a 18-50mm kit which comes with some 60D kits. That way, you'd have an 18-250mm zoom range which is roughly the same range of zoom/FOV that you had on the HVX200.

And yes, older manual lenses are wonderful and the only way to really get some great glass without spending a huge amount of money. Check out the vintage lens thread (all 30 pages of it) for everything you'd ever need to know about going with older lenses. You'll save a lot of cash.

Buy the 60d body. Then depending on your budget, both the tamron 28-75 and Canon 24-70L are both great standard zoom lenses
