This is a guess:What is the little black box behind the focus tape hook?
This is a guess:
I think it's an optional wireless thingy.
Everything extended (arm, evf), I had to jut my elbow out just to hold it... I am tall tho, so perhaps thats why. Can't say I much agree with the assessment here, but to each his own. I found it ridiculously easy to handhold this camera. It weighs very little and when the accessory back is on it balances very, very well. I shot with the F900, Aatons and BL4s in my day so I guess I have a different measure of weight and balance for the shoulder, but I would have no problem with this camera on my shoulder.
28mm e-mount for aps-c is different than 28mm FE. This is an FE lens (double checked on bhphoto). You can use a speed booster on e-mount to get back to a closer equivalence... but you won't with this lens. It's not thought out.[/quote]The wide end of that lens is a 28mm. A 28 is a 28 is a 28. It will give the same field of view on the FS7 as any other 28mm. I don't see the point of comparing it to the field of view in full frame 35, because you are talking about mounting it on a S35 sensor camera. Most people I know shooting on the FS700 are using adapters for stills lenses anyway, and all of those lenses are built to cover full frame. Same difference.
We tried on the Ronin. No luck. Body is too heavy and tall for good lenses. With the XL arm it'll probably work, but the clearance above (with handle removed) is very small that the ronin handle hits. The FS7 top handle, viewfinder and handgrip arm are all easily removed, making for a pretty small package when rigging. It is a little taller than the FS700, but not by much. Using it in a gimbal in "flipped" mode should be no problem.
I was told that this is for EU wireless requirements. If you they had built-in, it would change how the camera is classified. That little dongle in the USB slot is a wireless network adapter, letting the camera stream live video n 1080p. It is an accessory that works on several Sony cameras.
Ok thanks! As I only work in 25p timelines it means I will be able to have 300fps in 25p from the FS7 when "converted".
So if I want 200fps slow-motion in a 25p timeline (like I have with my Fs700 when I record 200fps @ 25p) I'll have to shoot 100fps @ 50p?
It's not an issue with the FS7 it's how all cameras work. If it's easier you could think of it as 25fps, 50fps, 150fps or 200fps. Or 25p, 50p, 150p or 200p. The number is alway how many frames per second you shoot. The rest is math and how you spread those frames on your timeline. Same thing with the FS700.Ok thanks for your help in understanding this issue on the FS7! So I think I will keep my FS700 as I often shoot 200fps and 400fps and I got used to the 10sec burst.
This might be a pain in the butt for you guys, but is there a reason why you can't flip it into NTSC mode and shoot 180fps non-stop on the FS7, then put that into your 25p timeline? Then you're almost getting your 200fps but without the burst limitation. Same thing with the FS700.
I would much rather have the 150fps continuos of the FS7 than the 200fps burst of the FS700.
Have actually not shot much slow motion at all since I got my FS700 so maybe it doesn't matter so much. But find the burst mode a bit chunky to work with.
I think you're right... still, could be worth having a "slomo" card and a standard card! Haha. That is, if you want the ergonomics of the FS7 and don't want the size and weight of the Odyssey7Q. At least it's an option to go up to 180fps.I think that maybe the SD cards need to be reformatted if changing to NTSC. At least on then A7s. Cant remember on the FS700. And no idea how the FS7 work in that regard.
It's really simple, the only thing the FS7 has over the FS700 is the internal 4k and shouler mount, if you want/need these, then sure upgrade, if you don't, the FS700 with the 7Q does everything tge FS7 does.
