Secondary OEM Battery

I bought the generic battery from the 2nd vendor ebay link and can confirm it works fine with the HMC150

I bought the one from ufo111 and can confirm it works, I have only used it twice though.

Fully charged it shows 253 minutes vs the standard big panasonic which shows 203 minutes

I'm an HMC-150 n00b, and I'm buying the camera in the next few weeks, but I'm a current HVX-200 user.

How many recharge cycles have you guys put these batteries through on your HMC-150? Do they recharge well with the stock Panasonic charger? I'd rather buy 4 of these than 1 of the Panasonic 5000mAh batts if they are reliable, but I'm always reluctant to use 3rd party power with a new camera until I've heard from the sage wisdom of more experienced early-adopters of a camera! :D :D :D

I don't have enough charge cycles on it to be able to speak with any authority regarding longevity - I've only cycled it about 4 or 5 times so far.

No problems at all with the standard Panasonic chargers.

These batteries wont kick out after 800ish charges? Would a Panny brand battery kick out after 800ish charges? If they do is it still worth my money?

800 is a lot of charges. That is enough for :

200,000 minutes
or
3333 hours
or
139 days of continuous recording.

Not many cameras will see this much work - let alone a single battery.

If you recharged it every other day it would take 4.38 years to reach this number of recharges. I suggest that if this is a critical number - you buy more batteries!

Many Laptop batteries top out at about 500 charges.

For the price of these batteries, if you got 800 charges that works out at $0.05 per charge, or 1.25c per hour of use. I think that is well worth it.

Alrighty I was looking at getting one for the Nikon D70 I am getting soon. You guys are just always so helpful! :D

The D70 is a different ball game - and I suggest you ask people on a forum that has more D70 users with experience of their batteries. I had a third party battery for my D700 and it died very quickly indeed. The Nikon batteries are still working well.

So, for the HMC these batteries work well. For other brands (e.g. Nikon) I can't say.
