C100: secand hands eos c100, wise advise shopping

Out of curiosity, where can one find used C100's for around $3000? Amazon and ebay seem to be in the $3400-$4000 range for MK I, body only, no DPAF.

I have been looking at a used c100 and the seller says the hours of use clock has been reset back to 0. Is there a way of finding out the total hours of use prior to the reset?

Hit the "status" button on the side of the camera and cycle through the pages with the joystick. I believe it shows total hours on one of the pages.

Very cool, thanks for the info. mine has 95 hours! Anyone have any idea how many hours you can expect to get out of the C100?

If you are a hobbyist, buy used.

If you pay your bills with your camera, buy new. I have bought used cameras, lenses and accessories. Lenses, have never had a problem. Bodies, I have, but only once. If you have a new camera and you are on a paying gig and it breaks, at least you have warranty and sometimes dealer support if you didn't buy it from a box house. It can be worth it to pay 10% more and buy from someone like Abel Cine Tech or EVS who also rents. That way, if your camera takes a dump mid project, they can get a replacement, retal or at least give you a heavily discounted rental to get you through the project/shoot. Making sure your clients are taken care of is number one and with a used camera, it is much more difficult. How many of you ALWAYS have a spare camera on set? I do, I have been stung too many times with problems, inconsistencies and just plain weirdness with gear to ever take a chance. In the past two years, I have had a digital audio recorder record every file perfectly except the main interviewee on a huge project for TriStar, that file was corrupt and just recently, I had an SSD in my Ninja Blade stop recording midway through a big shoot for Fox, lost everything on it, but luckily was also recording internally with the C100 so I had AVCHD to hand the client. Saved my rear. Buy new if you are a pro.

I'd guess thousands if not tens of thousands of hours.

There's very little moving inside of a C100, so the hour meter isn't quite as relevant as it used to be with a tape transport mechanism that needed cleaning and repair at regular intervals.

I was just looking into selling mine. Is that what they go for these days? $3K? Holy smokes considering I paid $4K just 6 months ago for mine, and that was a good deal at the time I recall (used that is).

Cameras bodies depreciate so quickly. I sold my Scarlet for $9K that I bought 2 years earlier for $18K. Bought a C100 now lost another $1K in 6 months. Ouch!

But anyway I would absolutely buy used and like mentioned above hours don't mean anything in these tapeless/mirrorless cameras these days. Find one that has a bunch of extras bundled in and you can save yourself a whole bunch of money. I may sell mine that has a whole ton of stuff that would get you shooting without buying a single thing extra. PM me for a list

I'd be careful trying to sell a camera right now with NAB in 2 weeks.....I think new and used prices will go down based on new products coming...or rumored to be coming......
