SDI Monitoring

I have a Nebtek HDS70 with component and SDI. I'd like to know if anyone has a good way to convert HDMI to SDI with a small portable power source? Who makes it. Don't want a wall plug in option. What can I expect in terms of picture compromise? I plan to use this primarily as a focus monitor.

I've seen some black magic options listed here but I can't tell what the power options were.

Who's been down this route?

Haven't done the SDI option, but I got an HD Fury II for use with the component, and it appears to work fine. It can even work somewhat without needing any additional power at all, but if you want accurate display you want a power supply (which only really needs 5V, if you can find a battery->USB port adapter you could go totally battery).

I looked at the Fury 2. Can't seem to see where the component output is in the pics. Am I missing something here.

Also, new to this DSLR world can you list the exact parts you need to get from 7D to Monitor with portable power supply?

Thanks

The HDFury 2 includes a component breakout cable with it. It is, by some measures, everything you need. (well, plus a mini-HDMI cable).

So -- mini-HDMI to full-size HDMI cable from the 7D to the HD Fury II.

HD Fury II to its included component breakout cable.

HD Fury II's breakout cable to BNC adapters (assuming your monitor has BNC inputs; the Fury's breakout cable is RCA).

That's all you need. The 7D will actually power the HD Fury. However, I think it's right on the cusp, and I don't trust it, so I spent the extra $1.95 to get the power supply. The power supply is a little round mini-connector on one end, and a USB connector on the other. It includes an AC->USB wall wart, or you could plug it into a computer, or a battery power supply with a USB output, or into a USB port on the Red or maybe onto an HPX500 or other camera with powered USB (not sure if the USB ports on-camera are powered during camera operation or not).

This looks great. My Nebtek also has RGB input/outputs. I'm still a little fuzzy on usb power supply. Battery/USB supply is what I need. Do you recommend any? I've never dealt with them and all the one's I see on line, seem to be for recharging cell phones, etc. Is this the same? Any model, brand you could steer me too. Bit of a newbie. Trying to figure out a way to get camera, monitor, accessories onto my fig rig - so everything needs to be independent of the wall.

Thanks so much.
