SDHC or Memory Stick

Now that Sony allows EX users to use their Memory Sticks with EX cameras, I wonder if it's any better than third-party SDHC solutions.
The Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo seems to be fast. Some mention 30MB/s transfer, but I guess it's maximum which doesn't mean much to me. I can't find any information on the sustained write speed, which is essential. SDHC class 6 guarantee sustained write at 6MB/s.
Which is supposed to be better and will endure more overcranking?

I got 31-32 fps overcrank on the Sony duo Mark II; I haven't tried the HG sticks yet, but they sould be faster. I use the new I-Connect 18 to1 adaptor and find I can close the door. Beauty is, they only cost $25.00 at Fry's and the MS Mark II were selling for $75.00 Total cost is $100.00 + tax for ~Hour of HQ time. The MS-HG's are now $85.00 and faster. Note: the new I-Connect adaptors are square on the metal stamp and work without the problems of the older (round stamped) adapter which was a PITA from time to time. ---Carl and Grommit

Where exactly can i insert a memory stick? im guessing the usb port. Will the camera be able to record onto the memory stick?

You stick an adapter into regular SxS port.
I read somewhere that new EX1R can move multiple clips at a time from one card to the other. I can't find this info now - I might well have been dreaming about it ;) If this is true, things are gonna be much easier - getting 8GB SxS for overcranking and using SDHC/MemoryStick for everything else...

You weren't dreaming, that feature was on a number of reports of the new list...

From the early reports of the cost of the Sony MS adaptor and the recommended MS cards, and comparing them to the cost of the new SxS-1 media, I don't see the point of using MS, there was only a small extra cost for SxS-1.

Maybe the actual prices will be different, but hopefully we may not need to use MS or SD media anymore. Lets face it, in most cases the only reason we go this way is due to the cost of SxS Pro. Most of us simply couldn't afford enough media and needed to find a way to stop offloading in the field and SD was that solution.

Last night I was shooting to SDHC, and got a random 'can not proceed' message. I didn't loose any footage but I also don't know what caused it and if I have a choice I'd rather not have they chance of this happening.

Having the SDHC/MS option will always be great, especially as those media prices continue to drop, as we can have an option for more consumable media, but I am guessing that if Sony do a 32GB SxS-1 card for a reasonable price, many will take them up on that option.

It seems could be copy clips each other at 2 slots of EX-1R , I wonder if it can copy clips from a SxS(slot1) to a MemoryStick(slot2) ?
If so ,we can record overcranking in SxS at one of slot, Then copy it to MS at another slot??
Am i right??

Guess you're right...

The Sandisk 8 gig SxS are going for only 150.00 at B&H. I got one - works fine. It's the cheapest SxS gig for gig.
