ScriptFest XIII: BloodGamesFest - WINNERS!

How about end-of-the-worldFest because the Mayans, a people who couldn't even sustain a civilisation as long as their calender, couldn't be wrong.

Another one in 2012, excellent. I wil keep an eye out.

I don't know whether you focus on low budget scripts all the time, but I do like that idea as I want to focus on "produceable" scripts and the more challenges like that, the better.

Cheers for now.

If it's not too late, I'd like to throw another suggestion in the ring.

How about "Dickfest!"

No, Keaton, it's not gay porn. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Dickfest

Open genre
6 - 12 pages
Your protagonist must be a detective.

Topical:

Oba-rom-ma-neyFest - in the spirit of negative campaigning the script must contain a wild claim about obama or romney. Any basis in truth is an automatic disqualification.

A more serious take on the topic:

ElectionFest, pick two or three candidate fest ideas, or just a list of genres - then put it to the vote to generate interest, so the idea that inspires the greatest participation gets the green light. Hopefully by getting more input from potential entrants there'll be a greater participation rate. In the US voter turnout of just over 50% is typical, imagine if 50% of dvxers participated (judging would take around 4.5 years by my calculations).

Dying is easy. Comedy is hard. Especially when it involves Private Dicks (of the trench coat variety), or President Dicks (of the Nixon variety).

I never understood why folks as rule think comedy is harder than other genres. I has its challenges, but so does pulling off a truly good thriller. Or an engaging drama.

I was kinda hoping a Christmas fest (or Winter Solstice if Christmas isn't your thing) to line up with a film fest. Seeing how last year's Christmas fest is still up as current, I don't see that happening.

What the hell happend to these fests?

Yeah time is pressing, not really enough time to do a scriptfest, judge then film an entry before Dec 25. Christmas in July, maybe...

There's enough time to do a christmas themed user-driven scriptfest if we get on it. Say 1-8 pages, open category as long as it has a christmas connection. Doesn't have to be christian-based, could be a reaction to christmas of a non-participant, could be hanukkah or just a significant connection to the date Dec 25, whatever. Deadline, say Dec 19 so we can read them in between holiday preparations? Roughly a month.

Sweet!

Now all I need is an idea. I hate christmas. Haven't celebrated in 20+ years. I wonder if I can challenge myself to a saccarine sweet tale of joy and wonder...? :)
