So, assuming that the O7Q monitor is calibrated, more than a color accurate image on the OLED screen, can one use the Sony Slog2 LUT to determine exposure for an SLog2 profile?
What if you used some of the various rigging and arms available on the market to physically position the Odyssey as a large viewfinder, perhaps next to the front of the lens or mattebox? It only weighs 1.25 pounds.Thoughts on using the fs700 with the oddysey 7q handheld? I'd imagine somehow running the monitor on top of the camera. I can't tell if this is geared towards people who will always be stationed on a rig for documentary/interview/commercial work or if it will still be able to satisfy the filmmakers who do a lot of organic handheld looking work. This may be determinant on whether or not I will send back my FS700R and save for a Red.

Think about all those little buttons on the side and top of the FS700 -- what if for the most part you could ignore them? Set up in the morning, maybe program a few of the user buttons to your liking, but forget the rest. On the Odyssey7Q, there are two menu bars, one above the image and one below. The OLED panel is 1280x800, so that leaves us 40 lines above & 40 below the image for the menus, never overlapping the frame. The tool bar on the top is mostly related to recording controls. The tool bar on the bottom is image analysis (exposure tools, frame lines, focus assist). And there's a HIDE button in case that stuff gets distracting -- just look at an image with an idicator letting you know you're recording. The Odyssey can be set to record from the camera so you can use the camera handgrip to trigger. And if you hit the STATUS CHECK button the camera's LCD becomes a nice big audio meter for the sound guy, with the pots right nearby.
Even if all you ever did was record the standard HD video, I think it opens up the use of the camera greatly.
