Screen Skins 16x9 framing overlay

OK: Begin shameless plug.
On a recent shoot destined for letterboxed output, I made up a 16x9 framing overlay for my 100A 3.5" LCD finder based on a custom ground glass I had for my old Eclair film camera (1:85 in that case).
The top and bottom areas outside the 16x9 frame are shaded just enough to see through so you can catch an incoming mike, etc. and protect the full frame. No other markings except for the center frame cross. It's peel and stick...re-useable and doesn't leave any residue on the LCD screen.
Figuring that many of you also prefer to letterbox in post, I packaged these little devils (2 Screen Skins to a pkg.)
They are currently available at EVS (Glendale store and online) and Abel Cine in Burbank.
I think you'll find them extremely useful in your shooting.

jg2000,
Yes, you can use the DVX's squeeze mode or the anamorphic adaptor for widescreen. However, many folks prefer to shoot a standard 4:3 picture and compose a shot to allow for letterboxing (adding the black bars top and bottom of frame) during the editing process. The camera has a menu setting that adds the bars for you, but once you've shot it that way, that's it...you can't undo it. Doing it in post gives a bit more flexibility in case you want to "re-frame" by shifting the image up or down. The Screen Skin overlay has semi-transparent grey sections where the black bars would be, allowing you to see areas outside the 16x9 frame. You'll be able to see if a mike or other object has intruded into the "normal" frame in case you decide later to use a 4:3 non-letterboxed version.
Hope this helps.
