Hi guys,
Last 2 days I shot a short with the GH3. We really pushed it around in difficult conditions and the footage simply looks great. I'm very pleased with most of the results IQ wise. Soon you will see more of this.
There are 2 things that bothered me though:
- First, I had 2 times a complete 'lockup'. It just didn't respond to anything anymore and when I turned it off, the power led was still on. I had to remove the battery to 'reset' the camera. After that it was working fine. This happened on the first shooting day while conditions were not so good (wet, muddy, etc). The 2nd day it gave me no problems. Could a dirty HDMI cable or something could have caused this? That's what I'm guessing, as it happened both times after disconnecting the field monitor. Maybe something is fried inside? If it happens once again, I take it back to the shop.
- Second and main question, when autofocus is on and while not recording, the camera keeps searching for focus. I usually use the 'single focus area' and in between the shots, the camera keeps focussing on that point. I have turned off the 'continiuos autofocus'... How do I turn this off? I want to keep the focus the same in between takes ...
Here are some screen grabs from the film for those who are interested
