Hullo.

I'm interested in buying Century's Tele Adapter (VS-16TC-DVX) for the Panasonic DVX100A and I'd like to see some screen grabs or sample footage before my purchase. Does anyone know where I could find some?

Thanks!

I have tthe 1.6 telephoto ada[ter by century optics for the dvx, and it's awesome, the only thing i have up right now is this screen grab

lol i'll put somethin else up later tonight

Check out some of Disjecta's films. He uses the Century 1.6 tele all the time and it looks fantastic. Wish I could afford one...

"What does a tele adapter do? I don't get it."
Telephoto lenses compress space, they are refered to as the long lenses. Less depth of field, and they play down movement severely, for instance a shot where someone is running into camera will not be as dynamic as it would have been if you shot it with a prime lens. Just think of the shot from fight club where marla almost gets run over, you can manipulate that effect with a telephoto lens.

It's the opposite of the wide-angle adaptor....
It makes the standard 4.5-45mm lens a 7.2-72mm lens

Helps with DOF if you can get far enough back to create the same framing....

i want to use the tele lens for close-ups. it minimizes the perspective deformation, makes the background behind objects more blurry and generally looks very nice when filming faces in close-up, or so i'm told :)

here are some screengrabs from an experimentary short starring my buddy talking about my car. all shots were filmed using the century wide-angle adapter, although many of them should've been filmed using (at least) the default lens, but due to some very specific reasons we didn't have time to change camera settings. nevertheless. enjoy ;)

hmmm, I'm liking what that adapter does - some great images. Is century the only company that makes them, or are they the recommended?

Raddrew that is awsome. The stuff with the old film camera is awsome. and the girl. I had never really thought about using a tele adapter befor but now my next pay check is going to one.

just awesome. i've had my doubts about buying such an expensive adapter, but the great work of you guys completely convinced me.

I think EVS has a great price on them and you can ask for a dvxuser discount. save yourself some time and just ask directly for "Rush". Unfortunately, they were on backorder when I called.

Thanks everyone for posting your picst and movies. it will take a while for me to go through them, but they're fantastic and inspiring. interesting what Disjecta said about how important the lens is..

Here's another still from a short I just did (see The Accident in the screen grabs section). I used the teleconverter for this shot. Intentionally chose it to get a narrow depth of field for a filmic look:

fabulous-

I'm excited..have one coming in the mail. I must say it was a hard decision, ( yes, the money) but the fact that I may not be able to use it with next generation dvx offspring ( hvx?) but oh well. I'm waiting for a callback from century optics about stuff like that ( if they know??). can't have everything. one thing I love about your images, disjecta, is that they are consistenly beautiful just as they are. ( no need for funky effects, which I would like not to have to do.)

compared to still photographers long lenses, the price is not so bad..

That is a good way of looking at it Pooh:), compared to long lenses or buying a different zoom lens for an ENG camera, it's not so bad. The most important thing for me in using the tele is that I can get an ECU of something and keep it in focus, without having to walk up to it and Macro focus it, thereby distorting its shape. I think we do have them instock, you can email me at rush@evsonline.com and I will check tomorrow. I will also get you the DVXuser discount.

disjecta, I know you've answered this before , but what is the name of the music in the intro of "A MAGICAL FALL" and who composed it? Also, How are you cropping your shots? Are you marking the letterbow by putting tape on your LCD or production monitor?
